Till October 2005, the number of mobile phone users in the world has reached 2 billions, among which there are nearly 0.4 billion Chinese users. With the development of technology and user's requirement, the percentage of smart phones is increasing rapidly. According to the statistics of IDC, the shipment of smart phones in 2005 is 50 millions, which is 165% more than that of 2004. The statistic of Norson shows that, in China , 4.58 millions smart phones have been sold out in 2005, which is 120% more than that of 2004, and it has occupied 5.4% of the market share.

While traditional mobile phone can only deal with voice communication, smart phone is a much more powerful terminal which can fulfill multimedia communication, entertainment and even business transaction. More and more personal and business data will be stored in smart phone. Therefore, the security of smart phone becomes very important. Since June 2004, the emergence of the first proof-of-concept virus Cabir, every week there are 2-3 types of new viruses at average. There have been over 200 types of viruses in smart phone till now (April, 2006).

Virus, Trojan, Worm can intrude into a mobile terminal through the following ways:

• Multimedia message, WAP, GPRS, 3G
•  Personal area networks based on Bluetooth, Infrared, WLAN
•  Connection with PC by USB cable.

Hence, the situation is very critical and it is urgent to provide an effective security solution to the users of smart phone. The R&D team of NetQin started the research and development of mobile information security system at May, 2004. After 2 years' hard work, NetQin released Mobile Anti-Virus 2.0 for S60 and Mobile Anti-Virus 1.0 for Windows Mobile in May 2006 .
